Drumming and Music is a huge part of my life and always has been since the beginning of middle school. I started getting interested in fifth grade after my brother was in the hall of fame parade and I saw how call the drumline was and how nice their music was. Since then I've been obsessed. I'm always drumming and thinking about it. Being in band has really changed my look on life and how I live in general. Right before spring break we get music to audition for the drum line. This is when it all starts. Everyone gets to work trying to get their music sounding good as possible to the standards that they want to audition for. There are for percussion instruments for marching band. Bass, Snare, Tenors and cymbals. Each gets 6 pieces of music to play, none of it being easy. We must audition for which instrument we want. IT's as you expect. The best auditions get what they tried out for and it's very competitive. You have to play each piece as cleanly and as well as possible to get the highest of what you want. After a few days, the results are up. We then get right to work and play a few things to get them up to par with what they should be. This goes on for about two weeks and then summer starts. This is the time where we get 12 songs that we need to memorize. After that month, the whole band gets together to practice music everyday for two weeks and to learn marching fundamentals. After this two weeks, we go to band camp, where the real work is done. We have a combined 8 hours a day of rehearsal plus free time and different activities through the day. It is very fun and we all bond. After the week of band camp is over, We do a show for everyone to see our progress from the week. We then get a few days of a break after t band camp and the pick up where we left off. We then have the hall of fame parade. Another few weeks goes by and school starts. We have rehearsal everyday during school and performances on Friday night up until football season ends. This is definitely the highlight of my year since drumming is what I'm doing all day everyday. If I'm not running or at school, you can usually find me drumming.
This has really changed me. I've met many new people and have made a lot more memories plus learned a lot of new stuff in drumming and life in general. It has really made a big impact on my life and I love every second of it.
